  1. 1973

A small group of Sikhs living in the Miami–Fort Lauderdale area gathered as a Sikh Sangat for the first time and recognized the need for a Gurdwara Sahib in the area.

  2. Early years

Monthly deewans (congregational gatherings) began in members' homes. Guru Nanak Dev Ji's annual Prakash Utsav celebrations grew large enough to require rented spaces at colleges and universities. Prof. Laxman Phadke, a talented musician, was instrumental in these celebrations.

  3. Registration

The Sikh Society of Florida was registered as a Florida non-profit religious organization.

  4. 1980

Three acres of land were purchased to build the Gurdwara.

  5. 1988

Construction began. Until completion, major Gurpurabs were celebrated under a canvas tent. Bhai Mukhtiar Singh Ji served as the first Granthi until his passing in 2007.

  6. 1991

    Building construction was completed.

  7. Following decades

The community purchased adjoining land and expanded the building to serve a growing Sangat.

  8. 2021–2022

A dedicated Punjabi School building was constructed next to the Langar Hall.
